Welcome to Passerelle, a podcast designed to spark the curiosity of French language learners.
, .
Before we begin, I'd like to ask you a question.
Taïwan , , , Emilie , .
How's it going this week here in Taiwan? I'd say things are going pretty well. The first few weeks of January were pretty busy. I don't know about you, but I often need a bit of time to get back into the swing of things, as they say, to get back into a certain work rhythm. And that's especially true since I launched this podcast project at the beginning of January. By the way, I wanted to thank those of you who took the time to share your impressions of the first few episodes. I was asked about the ideal episode release schedule. Ideally, I would like to publish a new episode every week. I emphasize "ideally" because, well, I know myself! But above all, I don't want to make promises that I'm not sure I can keep. January is a bit of a month of experimentation with this podcast. For now, it's working, and then we'll see what happens next. Anyway, you're starting to know the drill, but if there are any newbies here, my name is Emilie, and I'm a French teacher - French as a foreign language, that is.
.
I'm thrilled to be back with you for the third episode of Passerelle.

Every week, we ask ourselves one or more questions, and in this episode, I'd like you to answer this one:
est-ce Est-ce , , .
What place does reading have in your life, and has that place evolved over time? Did it change during different stages of your life, such as childhood, adolescence, and adulthood?
To connect this to French and last week's episode about memories, here’s another question.
Est-ce , .
Do you remember the very first book you read in a foreign language, one that wasn't your native tongue?
, .
book deux mille vingt époque-là.

Why a Book Club? Reading has always been a big part of my life—maybe not directly in my teaching career, but definitely in my personal life.
, , .
Reading has always held a certain level of importance throughout the ages, but one thing I've always found fascinating is listening to people talk about books.
, , .
I grew up going to the local library regularly, and just thinking about it brings back images and even smells.
.
It's the same thing with small bookstores.
.
It's great to be able to ask booksellers for recommendations.
, , France , .
You know, if you've ever been to a bookstore, in France or elsewhere for sure, it's quite common to see little cards where the bookseller has written a short summary of the book.
.
Why this book left a mark on me: To make you want to read it.
, book .
In a way, I find that again with book club.

Book Club, in a nutshell, is a podcast created by Louie Media, a studio that produces absolutely brilliant narrative podcasts.
, , Louis .
In the first episode of my podcast, I mentioned how much I love the feeling of intimacy you get when listening to podcasts, and I think Louis Media really embodies or represents that idea well.
